AT&T sells international use mainly as a day pass: you pay a daily fee for every day your phone uses data, texts or calls abroad, and that day pass is tied to your domestic plan allowance. Some newer unlimited plans bundle international data instead. A few things to know before you assume anything:

How to avoid accidental roaming charges
The most common surprise bill is not a choice, it is a setting. Do this before wheels up:
- Install the VoaSim eSIM at home using the QR code that arrives by email within minutes. Keep the eSIM line switched off until you land.
- In your phone settings, turn off data roaming on the AT&T line. On iPhone: Cellular > AT&T > Cellular Data Options > Data Roaming off.

You need an unlocked phone with eSIM support. That means iPhone XR or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and most phones released from 2020 on. Universal check: dial *#06# — if an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. If your handset is still financed and locked by AT&T, request an unlock first.
