eSIM for couples and groups: an extra 10% off with 2 to 4 eSIMs
Key facts
- Buying 2 to 4 eSIMs in one VoaSim order gets an extra 10% off the whole order, on top of the day's promo price.
- Hotspot sharing is not allowed, so each traveler needs their own eSIM on their own phone.
- Every VoaSim eSIM is truly unlimited: no daily cap, no throttling, no hidden fair-use clause.
- Prices start at USD 16.90 for 5 days and go down to USD 1.88/day on the 60-day plan, and vary across the 170 destinations.
- For very light data use, a capped plan from another brand may be cheaper — compare on the public VoaSim eSIM Price Index.
See the exact price for your dates
Two phones, one trip. The question every couple asks is whether one eSIM can cover both of you. It cannot: sharing by hotspot is not allowed, and the local carrier may block the line if you do it. The good news is that buying together is cheaper.
At VoaSim, 2 to 4 eSIMs in one order get an extra 10% off the full order, and every single one of them is truly unlimited: no daily high-speed cap, no speed throttling, no hidden fair-use clause.
How the extra 10% off works
The price at VoaSim is set by destination and trip length across the 170 destinations. Add a second eSIM to the same order and the order gets an extra 10% off, on top of the promo price already shown. That discount applies to orders of 2 to 4 eSIMs, so it covers couples, a pair of friends and small family trips.
What you need to do: pick the destination and the dates once, choose how many eSIMs you need, and check out. Each eSIM arrives as its own QR code by email, within minutes, with its own validity. You do not have to install them on the same day or on the same phone brand.
Run the numbers for your exact dates in the price simulator — destination plus dates gives you the final amount in about a minute. Payment is by international credit or debit card in USD through Stripe, with the invoice by email and no hidden fees.
Price table per eSIM (before the group discount)
These are today's promo prices for one eSIM. Multiply by the number of travelers, then apply the extra 10% off for orders of 2 to 4 eSIMs.
| Duration | Price | Per day |
|---|---|---|
| 5 days | USD 16.90 | USD 3.38 |
| 7 days | USD 23.90 | USD 3.41 |
| 10 days | USD 30.90 | USD 3.09 |
| 15 days | USD 42.90 | USD 2.86 |
| 20 days | USD 51.90 | USD 2.60 |
| 25 days | USD 58.90 | USD 2.36 |
| 30 days | USD 62.90 | USD 2.10 |
| 60 days | USD 112.90 | USD 1.88 |
Trips of 1 to 4 days pay the 5-day package. The maximum is 90 days per eSIM. There is no early-booking discount on this site: the table price is the price, whether you buy three months ahead or at the gate.
Why each traveler needs their own eSIM
Hotspot and tethering are not allowed on VoaSim eSIMs. This is not a sales trick: the local networks that carry the traffic can detect shared connections and block the line. If your partner's phone is the one carrying both of you and it gets blocked, both of you lose data.
There is also a practical reason. Couples split up constantly on a trip — one goes for coffee, one stays in the museum queue, one takes an early flight home. Two independent lines means two sets of maps, two ride-hailing apps and two working WhatsApp chats, with no one stuck waiting to be near the other phone.
Each eSIM is data only. It does not give you a new phone number, and it does not replace voice calls over the mobile network. Your physical SIM and your usual number stay active on the phone, so WhatsApp keeps running on the number your family already has. Just switch off data roaming on your home carrier before you land.
Unlimited vs capped: what to check before you buy for two
"Unlimited" means different things across brands, and with two or more lines the difference multiplies. These are the published rules of the main unlimited eSIM brands, taken from their own documents.
- VoaSim: truly unlimited. No daily high-speed allowance, no throttling after any threshold, no hidden fair-use clause. Hotspot is not allowed.
- Airalo (airalo.com, unlimited data plans fair use policy): unlimited plans include 3 GB/day of high-speed data by default, which may vary by package, then 1 Mbps for the rest of the 24 hours. Tethering counts toward the same cap.
- Holafly (esim.holafly.com): no published daily cap, but it states operators may reduce speed under fair use for up to one day, and hotspot is limited to 1 GB/day.
- Nomad (Nomad help center): most Unlimited plans include 2 GB/day of high-speed data, then around 1 or 2 Mbps; Nomad itself says these plans do not offer unrestricted high-speed data.
For prices across all four, use the daily VoaSim eSIM Price Index, which separates plans with and without a daily cap and publishes its method.
When a capped plan is the better pick
Be honest about how you use data. If both of you mostly check maps, send messages and look up restaurants on hotel Wi-Fi, 2 or 3 GB a day each is more than enough, and a capped plan from another brand may cost you less for that trip. Light users rarely notice the throttle.
Truly unlimited earns its keep when someone in the pair streams on long train rides, uploads video to social media every evening, does video calls home daily, or works remotely from cafés. It also helps when you have no idea how heavy your usage will be — a common case on a first long trip, when you do not want to spend the holiday watching a data counter.
One more fair point: if your home carrier already bundles international data into your plan, compare that first. Daily allowances and reduced speeds vary by country and plan, so check the current rate in your carrier app. Our roaming guide and comparison pages walk through both sides.
How to buy and install for two (or four) phones
- Open the simulator, pick the destination and the travel dates, and set the number of eSIMs.
- Pay by international card in USD. The QR codes arrive by email within minutes, one per traveler. Leave a WhatsApp number at checkout if you want a heads-up message.
- Check compatibility on every phone before installing: iPhone XR or newer, Galaxy S20 or newer, Pixel 3 or newer, and most phones from 2020 on. Dial *#06# — if an EID appears, the phone supports eSIM. Carrier-locked phones must be unlocked first.
- Install at home, on Wi-Fi, following the iPhone or Android steps in the email. Keep the eSIM line switched off until you land. On Android, do not turn on the eSIM's data before the trip.
- On arrival, turn the eSIM data on and your home carrier's roaming off. The validity starts counting at the first connection at the destination.
More scenarios, including kids and grandparents, are in the guides section, and the Europe plan covering 39 countries with one eSIM is at /esim/europe/.
If one phone will not connect
It happens, usually because the eSIM line is off, data roaming is still on for the home carrier, or automatic network selection got stuck. Run the free eSIM Rescue tool — it diagnoses an eSIM of any brand that has no signal, not only VoaSim's.
If that does not solve it, write to hola@voasim.com or use the on-site chat. Support is human, and if the eSIM will not connect and the team cannot fix it, you get a 100% refund. With two eSIMs in the order, the working one keeps the couple online while the other is sorted out.
Two coverage limits worth knowing before you book: island Caribbean destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Aruba and Curaçao are not covered right now (Puerto Rico works on US networks), and on a cruise the eSIM works on land at ports, not at sea.
