- Check your phone. Dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, the phone supports eSIM. iPhone XR or newer, Galaxy S20 or newer, Pixel 3 or newer and most phones from 2020 on qualify. A carrier-locked phone must be unlocked first.

- Restart the phone. This alone fixes a large share of cases.
- Set network selection to automatic, then try picking a local network manually.
