Traveler checking phone settings at an airport gate while using a free eSIM diagnostic tool
Straight answer: VoaSim's eSIM Rescue is a free diagnostic tool at voasim.com/sos/ that works with any eSIM brand. It walks you through the five settings that cause almost every "no signal" case: data roaming off, the eSIM line disabled, the wrong network selected, a missing APN and the wrong data SIM. It takes about two minutes, and human support is one message away.

Key facts

  • VoaSim's free eSIM Rescue tool at voasim.com/sos/ diagnoses any brand of eSIM in about two minutes.
  • It checks the five usual culprits: data roaming, line enabled, network selection, APN and which SIM carries data.
  • Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi and keep the line off until you land — days start at the first connection abroad.
  • If a VoaSim eSIM will not connect and support cannot fix it, you get a 100% refund.
  • One price per duration for every destination, from USD 18.90 for 5 days to USD 106.90 for 60 days (USD 1.78/day).

Want us to confirm it for your case?

Leave your email (and WhatsApp if you like) and the team replies in minutes.

You land, turn off airplane mode, and nothing. No bars, no data, just a spinning icon. In most cases the eSIM profile is fine and one toggle is in the wrong position.

That is why we built eSIM Rescue, a free diagnostic tool at voasim.com/sos/. It works with an eSIM from any provider, not only VoaSim, and it asks the same questions a good support agent would ask, in order.

What the free eSIM diagnostic tool checks

The tool goes through the settings that cause the vast majority of "eSIM not connecting" reports, one at a time, with instructions for your phone:

It also reminds you to turn off data roaming on your home line, so you do not get a surprise bill from your usual carrier while the travel eSIM does the work.

How to use it in about two minutes

You do not need an account, an app or a purchase.

  1. Open voasim.com/sos/ on any device with internet — hotel Wi-Fi, a laptop, or a friend's phone.
  2. Pick your phone type (iPhone or Android) and describe the symptom: no signal at all, signal but no data, or the profile will not install.
  3. Follow the steps in order and do not skip. Each step tells you exactly where to tap.
  4. After each change, toggle airplane mode on and off for 30 seconds and check again.
  5. If you still have nothing after the last step, the tool tells you what to send to support so nobody wastes time.

Doing this before you contact anyone usually saves the conversation entirely. If you are still on the fence about buying, our price simulator shows the exact cost for your dates in a minute.

The most common causes, by phone brand

PhoneWhere people get stuckUsual fix
iPhone (XR or newer)Data roaming left off on the eSIM line; cellular data still on the home SIMCellular → tap the travel line → Data Roaming ON; set it as the line for Cellular Data
Samsung Galaxy (S20 or newer)eSIM line switched off in SIM manager; APN emptyConnections → SIM manager → enable the line; check the APN in Mobile networks
Google Pixel (3 or newer)Automatic network search loops; preferred network type set too narrowSelect the operator manually; allow 4G/LTE and above
Other Android from 2020 onProfile downloaded on the wrong Wi-Fi, or eSIM data switched on before the tripReinstall on stable Wi-Fi if the provider allows; enable the line only after landing

Not sure your phone supports eSIM at all? Dial *#06#. If an EID appears, it does. Carrier-locked phones must be unlocked first.

Prevention: what to do before you fly

Most rescue cases are avoidable. With a VoaSim eSIM the QR code arrives by email within minutes of payment, and the rule is simple: install at home, activate on landing.

Also worth knowing before you travel: VoaSim eSIMs are data only, hotspot and tethering are not allowed, and they work on land at cruise ports but not at sea. See the travel guides for the full install walkthrough.

When the tool is not enough: human support and the refund rule

Some problems are not settings. A profile can fail to install because the phone is carrier-locked, because the QR code was already used on another device, or because of a rare network issue at the destination.

In those cases, message us at hola@voasim.com or use the chat on the site. Real people answer. Send the diagnostic summary the tool gives you, your phone model, the destination and a screenshot of the network settings screen — that usually cuts the back-and-forth to one exchange.

Our rule is straightforward: if a VoaSim eSIM will not connect and support cannot fix it, you get a 100% refund. You can read more about how we operate on our trust page. If your eSIM is from another brand, the diagnostic tool is still free to use, but the refund and the ticket go through that provider's own support.

If you decide to switch plans while you are there

Sometimes the eSIM connects fine but the plan is the problem: the GB ran out on day three, or speeds dropped after a cap. VoaSim sells truly unlimited data — no cap, no throttling, no hidden fair-use clause — at one price per duration, the same for every one of our 170 destinations.

DurationPricePer day
5 daysUSD 18.90USD 3.78
7 daysUSD 23.90USD 3.41
10 daysUSD 30.90USD 3.09
15 daysUSD 42.90USD 2.86
30 daysUSD 61.90USD 2.06
60 daysUSD 106.90USD 1.78

Trips of 1–4 days pay the 5-day package; the maximum is 90 days per eSIM. A second eSIM in the same order gets 10% extra off. The Europe plan covers 39 countries with a single eSIM. Note that we do not currently cover the island Caribbean.

FAQ

Does the eSIM Rescue tool work with eSIMs from other companies?
Yes. The diagnostic at voasim.com/sos/ is free and brand-agnostic. It checks phone settings — data roaming, line status, network selection, APN and the data SIM choice — which are the same regardless of who sold you the profile. For account or billing issues, contact your own provider.
Do I need to pay or create an account to use it?
No. There is no account, no app and no payment. Open the page in a browser on any device with internet, pick your phone type and follow the steps. If the tool cannot solve it and you are a VoaSim customer, our support team takes over from there.
Why does my eSIM show no signal right after landing?
Usually data roaming is off on the eSIM line, the line itself is disabled, or the phone is still searching automatically and has not locked onto a partner network. Toggle airplane mode for 30 seconds, then try selecting the operator manually. The diagnostic tool walks you through each step.
How do I know my phone supports eSIM?
Dial *#06# on the keypad. If an EID number appears, the phone has eSIM hardware. In practice that means iPhone XR or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and most phones released from 2020 on. The phone must also be carrier-unlocked.
I still cannot connect after the diagnostic. What happens?
Write to hola@voasim.com or use the site chat with your diagnostic summary, phone model and destination. Human support replies. If a VoaSim eSIM will not connect and we cannot fix it, you get a 100% refund.
Will installing the eSIM early start my plan days?
No. Your days start at the eSIM's first connection to a network at the destination. Install at home on Wi-Fi, keep the travel line switched off, and on Android do not turn on the eSIM's mobile data before you land.
Can I share the connection with my travel partner?
No. Hotspot and tethering are not allowed on VoaSim eSIMs, and the local carrier may block the line if you share. Each traveler should use their own eSIM. Buying a second eSIM in the same order gets an extra 10% off.
