Straight answer: Yes. VoaSim accepts international credit or debit cards charged in USD through Stripe, with no hidden fees and an invoice by email. Your debit card must be enabled for international online purchases. Prices are the same for every destination: USD 18.90 for 5 days, USD 61.90 for 30 days. The QR code arrives by email within minutes.

Key facts

  • VoaSim accepts international credit or debit cards charged in USD through Stripe, with no hidden fees and an invoice by email.
  • Prices are identical for all 170 destinations: USD 18.90 for 5 days up to USD 106.90 for 60 days (USD 1.78/day).
  • A declined debit card is almost always a bank setting: international purchases off, low balance, address mismatch or a missed 3-D Secure code.
  • The QR code arrives by email within minutes, but your days only start at the first connection at the destination.
  • If the eSIM will not connect and support cannot fix it, you get a 100% refund to the same card.

Debit cards are the default way millions of travelers pay online, and eSIMs are no exception. The only real requirement is that your card can be charged in US dollars by a foreign merchant.

Below: what VoaSim accepts, how the charge appears, what to do if the payment is declined, and what happens after you pay.

What VoaSim accepts (and what it does not)

Payment at VoaSim is simple and has one path:

The important word is international. Plenty of debit cards are tied only to domestic networks or block foreign online merchants by default. If yours is a standard Visa or Mastercard debit card enabled for international purchases, it behaves exactly like a credit card at checkout.

Prepaid and virtual debit cards usually work too, as long as they can be charged in USD and hold enough balance at the moment of purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring charge, so a one-time balance is enough.

How much you will be charged

VoaSim uses one price per duration, the same for every one of its 170 destinations. No destination markup, no size-of-country pricing, no data packages to compare.

PlanPrice (USD)Per day
5 days18.903.78
7 days23.903.41
10 days30.903.09
15 days42.902.86
30 days61.902.06
60 days106.901.78

Those figures already include today's 15% promo. Trips of 1 to 4 days pay the 5-day package, and the maximum is 90 days per eSIM. Add a second eSIM in the same order and it gets an extra 10% off, which is the easiest way to cover a travel partner on one card charge.

Why a debit card gets declined (and how to fix it)

Run these checks in order before assuming the card is broken:

  1. International purchases enabled. Many banking apps have a toggle for "online international transactions". Turn it on.
  2. Balance in USD terms. A debit card only spends what is there. Add a small margin for your bank's currency conversion.
  3. Correct billing address. Stripe checks it. Use the address your bank has on file, not your hotel.
  4. 3-D Secure approval. Some banks send a push notification or SMS code. If you miss it, the payment fails silently.
  5. Daily online limit. Raise it in the app if the plan costs more than your default cap.

If it still fails, try a different card or reach out at hola@voasim.com or on-site chat. Support is human and will tell you straight if the issue is on the bank's side.

What happens right after payment

Payment and delivery are quick, but the order matters:

Your physical SIM and your phone number stay in the phone, so WhatsApp keeps running on your usual number. Just turn off your home carrier's data roaming so it cannot charge you in the background. More setup detail in our guides.

Is your phone compatible before you pay?

Spend ten seconds on this before entering card details. Dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, the phone supports eSIM. The usual line: iPhone XR or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and most phones released from 2020 onward.

Two extra conditions: the phone must be carrier-unlocked, and you need Wi-Fi to install the QR code. VoaSim does not sell physical SIM cards, so an incompatible phone means no product — better to know that before the charge.

Coverage-wise, VoaSim reaches 170 destinations on 4G and, where available, 5G. The Europe plan covers 50 countries with one eSIM, including Switzerland, the UK, Turkey, Norway and Iceland. There is currently no coverage in the island Caribbean (Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Aruba, Curaçao). Puerto Rico works on US networks. Browse all destinations at /esim/.

Paying by card vs. other travel data options

A quick, fair comparison of how you pay in each case:

OptionHow you payTrade-off
VoaSim eSIMCard in USD, one charge, invoice by emailData only, no phone number
Other eSIM apps (Airalo, Nomad, Saily, Ubigi and others)Card or in-app payment, often by GBCheck caps, validity and tethering in their terms
Carrier roaming (T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, EE, Vodafone and others)Added to your monthly billUsually per day of use; rates change by country — check your carrier app
Local physical SIMCash or local card at a shopPassport registration, airport time, your SIM comes out

If you want your number to keep receiving calls, roaming may suit you better. If you want a fixed, prepaid amount on your debit card, an eSIM is cleaner. More context in our roaming comparison and compare page.

Risk on your side: the refund rule

Paying by debit card means real money leaves your account immediately, so the guarantee matters. If the eSIM will not connect and support cannot fix it, you get a 100% refund.

Before asking for one, use the free eSIM Rescue tool. It diagnoses an eSIM of any brand with no signal and usually finds the problem in a minute: roaming toggle off, wrong data line selected, APN, or an eSIM installed but not activated. Most "no signal" tickets end there.

If it is a genuine connection failure, email hola@voasim.com or open the chat. There is a human on the other side, and refunds go back to the same card that paid. You can read more about how VoaSim operates on the trust page.

FAQ

Can I buy a VoaSim eSIM with a debit card?
Yes. VoaSim accepts international credit or debit cards charged in USD through Stripe. Your card must be enabled for international online purchases and have enough balance. There are no hidden fees, and an invoice is emailed to you after the purchase.
Does a prepaid or virtual debit card work?
Usually yes, as long as it can be charged in US dollars by a foreign merchant and holds enough balance at the moment of checkout. There is no subscription and no recurring charge, so a single top-up covering the plan price is enough.
Why was my debit card declined at checkout?
The most common causes are international online purchases disabled in your banking app, insufficient balance after currency conversion, a billing address mismatch, a missed 3-D Secure confirmation, or a daily online spending limit. Fix those in order, then try again or contact hola@voasim.com.
Will I be charged in my local currency?
No. VoaSim bills in USD via Stripe. Your bank converts the amount to your currency and may apply its own conversion or foreign transaction fee, which is outside VoaSim's control. The USD price you see in the simulator is exactly what VoaSim charges.
How much does a VoaSim eSIM cost?
One price per duration for every destination, with today's 15% promo: 5 days USD 18.90, 7 days USD 23.90, 10 days USD 30.90, 15 days USD 42.90, 30 days USD 61.90 and 60 days USD 106.90. A second eSIM in the same order gets an extra 10% off.
When does my plan start counting after I pay?
Not at payment. The days start at the eSIM's first connection to a network at your destination. Install at home before flying, keep the eSIM line switched off, and turn it on after you land. On Android, do not enable the eSIM's mobile data early.
Can I get my money back if the eSIM does not work?
Yes. If the eSIM will not connect and support cannot solve it, you get a 100% refund to the card used. First try the free eSIM Rescue tool at voasim.com/sos/, which diagnoses no-signal issues on any brand of eSIM in about a minute.
