The landing ritual (in this order)
- Turn off airplane mode and wait up to 5 min — a crowded airport delays registration
- Data roaming on for the eSIM line (iPhone: Settings → Cellular → eSIM → Data Roaming; Android: roaming on the eSIM line)
- eSIM as the data SIM (not your home line)
- Airplane mode 10 seconds → off
- Restart the phone
- Manual network selection: pick a local carrier (try more than one)
