How to set the eSIM as your data SIM

iPhone

Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → pick the eSIM line (not your home line). Tip: rename the line to "Travel" when you install it so you never mix them up.

Android (Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, Pixel)

Settings → Connections (or Network & internet) → SIM manager → Mobile data → pick the eSIM line. On Samsung it’s in the SIM manager; on Xiaomi, in SIM cards & mobile networks; on Motorola/Pixel, in Network & internet → SIMs.

And my home line?

It stays active to receive SMS (bank codes), but with roaming off and not set as the data line. Your WhatsApp keeps your usual number, running on the eSIM’s internet.
