Hotspot not working with the eSIM?
Direct answerIf the hotspot won’t start or connects "no internet", check: 1) does the eSIM’s internet work on the phone itself?; 2) is the Personal Hotspot enabled on the right line?; 3) some eSIM plans block or limit tethering — check the provider’s policy. On iPhone, Personal Hotspot disappears when the carrier doesn’t configure the "Hotspot" APN.

2. Turn on the hotspot on the right line
- iPhone: Settings → Personal Hotspot → Allow Others to Join. If the option doesn’t even appear, it’s an APN limitation of the plan
- Android: Settings → Connections/Network → Hotspot & tethering → turn on
3. Connects but "no internet" on the laptop?
- Forget the network on the laptop and reconnect
- Toggle the hotspot off and on
- On iPhone, enable "Maximize Compatibility"
4. Does the plan allow hotspot?
Most travel eSIMs allow sharing within personal use (VoaSim’s do). Some other companies’ unlimited plans block or cap it — check your plan’s terms.
Frequently asked questions
Does the hotspot burn more data?
It uses whatever the connected devices consume — a laptop usually pulls far more than a phone (updates, cloud). On GB-capped plans, watch out.
