Where aloSIM may be the better pick
Be honest about your usage. A GB-based eSIM can win in three cases:
- Light data trips. A weekend where you only need maps, messages and a boarding pass may need very little data. A small package can come in under a flat day rate.
- Island Caribbean. VoaSim has no coverage right now in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Aruba or Curaçao. Puerto Rico works because it runs on US networks. For those islands, check aloSIM or another provider.

Install before you fly
With VoaSim, the QR code arrives by email within minutes of payment, plus a step-by-step guide for iPhone and Android. Install it at home, on Wi-Fi, then leave the eSIM line off until you land. The validity clock starts at the eSIM's first connection to a network at the destination, not at purchase — so on Android, do not switch on the eSIM's data before the trip.
