How each one works
Saily is the travel eSIM brand from Nord Security (the company behind NordVPN). You download the app, choose a destination or region, and buy a data package sized in GB with a validity window. When the GB run out, you top up. Plans, coverage and add-on features are described in the Saily app and on its official site, and terms change — check them there before buying.
VoaSim skips the GB entirely. You pick a destination and your travel dates, and you get an eSIM with no data cap, no throttling and no hidden fair-use clause. The price depends only on how many days you need. Coverage spans 170 destinations on every continent, with automatic connection to local networks on 4G and, where available, 5G.

The pricing difference in practice
With a GB model you are forecasting. Two weeks in Italy with Google Maps open, Instagram stories, a couple of video calls home and a hotel with weak Wi-Fi burns data much faster than most people guess. You either overbuy or top up mid-trip.

Trips of 1 to 4 days pay the 5-day package. A second eSIM in the same order gets 10% extra off. Maximum 90 days per eSIM. Payment is by international credit or debit card in USD through Stripe, with no hidden fees and an invoice by email.

When Saily is the better pick
Be honest with yourself about usage. A GB plan can win in three situations:
- You are a light user. Airport Wi-Fi, hotel Wi-Fi, maps offline, a few messages. A small package may cost less than any unlimited plan.
- You are already inside the Nord ecosystem and want everything in one app and one account.
- You want a Caribbean island. VoaSim currently has no coverage in the island Caribbean — Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, Bahamas, Aruba, Curaçao. Puerto Rico works, because it runs on US networks. For the islands, check Saily or another brand.
VoaSim wins when data is the point of the trip: remote work, long stays, families sharing plans, content creators, anyone who streams or video-calls daily, and travelers who simply hate watching a data counter. Also anyone hopping borders — the Europe plan covers 50 countries with a single eSIM, including Switzerland, the UK, Turkey, Norway and Iceland.
Compatibility, install and validity
Both brands need an unlocked phone with eSIM support. That means iPhone XR or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, Google Pixel 3 or newer, and most phones released from 2020 on. The universal test: dial *#06# — if an EID appears, your phone has eSIM. Carrier-locked phones must be unlocked first. VoaSim does not sell physical SIM cards.

Validity starts at the eSIM's first connection to a network at the destination, not at purchase. Then disable your home carrier's data roaming, and keep your physical SIM active so your number and WhatsApp stay yours.
