Sharing internet on a trip: hotspot without drama
One well-chosen eSIM can connect your laptop, your tablet and even your partner's phone. The catch: not every plan allows it. Here is the full guide.
First: does your plan allow hotspot?
"Unlimited" plans with fair use often limit or block hotspot (or cap it at 500 MB/day). Per-GB plans allow it but every shared MB counts against the package. At VoaSim, hotspot is allowed within personal use, no separate cap.
How to turn it on
- iPhone: Settings → Personal Hotspot → "Allow Others to Join". If the option is missing, check the data line is the eSIM and restart.
- Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile Hotspot. Set a name and password.
- For a laptop, a USB cable gives better battery and stability than shared Wi-Fi.

Does hotspot use more data?

Can two people travel on a single eSIM?
