Travel eSIMs on Apple Watch, iPad and tablets
Short answer: iPads and tablets with eSIM, yes — they work just like a phone. Apple Watch, generally no — its eSIM is special. And for everything else there is hotspot.
iPad and tablets: yes, and it works great

Apple Watch: the special case
The Watch's eSIM uses a system called number sharing with your carrier (One Number): it does not accept independent travel eSIM profiles. Abroad, your Watch works like this:
- Near the iPhone: it uses the phone's internet via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi — meaning your travel eSIM feeds it indirectly. Notifications, maps and apps work.
- Away from the iPhone: only with your carrier's international roaming, if your Watch plan includes it.

- Watch: stays with the iPhone, connected to it.
- iPad/laptop: hotspot from the phone, or its own eSIM on the iPad if you use it heavily.
