eSIM QR code not working?

Direct answerIf the QR code won’t scan or errors out, you can almost always install manually: instead of scanning, choose "Enter Details Manually" (iPhone) or "Enter activation code" (Android) and type the SM-DP+ address and the activation code your provider sent along with the QR.

Wi-Fi connected — installation downloads the eSIM from the internet
The QR must be scanned from another screen or printed out — you can’t scan a QR that’s on the same phone. Alternative: on iPhone (iOS 17+), long-press the QR image and choose "Add eSIM"
Each QR installs only once with most providers — if it was already used, you get the "unable to add eSIM" error

Manual installation (no QR)

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code → Enter Details Manually → paste the SM-DP+ address and the activation code.
Android: Add eSIM → Need help? / Enter code manually → paste the code in the LPA:1$address$code format.

"eSIM already added" or "couldn’t complete" errors

If the QR was already consumed (even if the install failed halfway), only the provider can reissue it. Talk to the support of whoever sold it — VoaSim customers: write to hola@voasim.com or use eSIM Rescue, 24/7.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install the eSIM without Wi-Fi?

You need some internet (Wi-Fi or your current line’s data). That’s why we recommend installing at home, before the trip.

I scanned it and it’s stuck on "activating..." forever.

Wait up to 10 minutes on Wi-Fi. If it doesn’t move, restart the phone — the line usually shows up installed after the reboot.
